Penguin Random House will stop using plastic in its book packaging

In order to advance in the strategy of protection and conservation of the environment, Penguin Random House Publishing Group (PRHGE) Colombiaannounced that it will stop using plastic in the packaging of all books.

With this decision, it joins the headquarters of United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Spain, Portugal, England, Germany, Mexico, Argentina, Australia and recently Chiliwhich support the environment in the world through bookswithoutplastic .

“Currently, the publishing industry in the country uses a plastic seal in the production process to cover the books that arrive at the Bookstores, which is known as heat sealing. This process is generating high levels of pollution due to the consumption of plastic and for this reason, the Company will be a pioneer in the implementation of preservation actions through the bookswithoutplastic campaign. According to Greenpeace, 1.8 tons of plastic take 75 years to decompose, and our annual consumption for heat sealing is 1.5 tons”, the publisher said in a statement.
