Madrid brings together book fairs from all over Spain on May 26th

Representatives of 25 book fairs from all over Spain meet in Madrid to share experiences and analyze possibilities for collaboration.

On Thursday, May 26th, on the eve of the official opening of the Madrid Book Fair, representatives from thirty book trade shows will meet at the Eugenio Trías Municipal Library, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

The purpose of this meeting is to exchange opinions and experiences and explore possibilities for collaboration.  «At the moment it is about getting to know each other and collaborating, about working as a network. And, after this meeting, we will know if we want and need something else,” said Eva Orúe, Director of the Madrid Book Fair.

Since she joined the position, Orúe has spoken with colleagues from other fairs about the possibility, even the need, to collaborate, to share experiences, to discuss how they work, to access other ways of operating. For this reason, among other matters, they will discuss the different ways of organization that other Spanish book fairs have (supported by departments of culture, bookstore associations, or managed by specialized companies), the peculiarity in the case of Sant Jordi (a fair in one day), those that organize sales in a single box, the role of publishers, queue management, accessibility and sustainability, and the difficulties involved in setting up an event of these characteristics in a place far from the country.
