“Publishers Weekly Day” Proclaimed for 150th Anniversary"

—“Publishers Weekly Day” was officially proclaimed by the Office of the Mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, during the U.S. Book Show, in honor of the 150th anniversary of the news organization, which was founded in New York City in 1872 and published continuously since then.

“It is my great honor to witness and be a part of ‘Publishers Weekly Day,’” said Cevin Bryerman, CEO and publisher, pictured above holding the mayoral proclamation. “Thanks to the employees of this organization, the legacy of Publishers Weekly is alive and stronger than ever before. I accept this proclamation on behalf of all the employees over the years who have formed the backbone of this great New York City institution that serves the entire bookselling and book publishing industry.”

At a special event to be held in the Flatiron District of New York on May 25, 2022, George Slowik, Jr., the president and owner of Publishers Weekly and its parent company, PWxyz LLC, will thank Cevin Bryerman and the core leadership team, including those cited in a “Movers and Shakers” feature in the 150th anniversary special issue of the magazine.

“‘Publishers Weekly Day’ represents a celebration of the people in the publishing industry,” Slowik said. “Their contributions have allowed Publishers Weekly to exist and contribute to the vibrancy of New York and the entire industry for 150 years. It is a privilege to acknowledge and celebrate those intelligent, passionate people devoted to books and publishing.”
