A Día de Los Niños — children’s day — celebration was held Friday at Ferns Park in Woodland providing local families and their children an opportunity to socialize with others while also getting a free book.
Patricia Valenzuela, who has been a part of the Día de Los Niños committee since the event was started nearly 20 years ago, said this is the first time the event has been held at its usual location since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Typically, the committee organizes the event with roughly 30 other organizations with entertainment and food for everyone. This year only five organizations participated, according to Valenzuela.
