Cervantes Week begins

The Ministry of Culture and Sports presents an extensive literary program to commemorate World Book and Copyright Day

The Ministry of Culture and Sports, through the General Directorate of Books and Reading Promotion, inaugurates today the Cervantes Week. There will be more than seven days of cultural activities from April 18th to the 27th to celebrate World Book and Copyright Day, which will take place on April 23rd. Cervantes Week kicks off with the presentation of the 2022 Book Day poster and the traditional flying of commemorative banners in the different official languages ??of the State, from the outdoor walls of the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

The 2022 Book Day poster has been made based on a poem by the winner of the latest edition of the Cervantes Prize, Cristina Peri Rossi. On this occasion, the poster has been made by the illustrator Elena Odriozola, winner of the 2015 National Illustration Award. The main event, on April 22nd, will be the award ceremony for the 2021 Miguel de Cervantes Prize for Literature in Spanish Language, awarded to Cristina Peri Rossi.
