The literary critic Javier Goñi, speaker on the sidelines, dies

The journalist carried out his work in 'Babelia', a supplement to EL PAÍS, for 30 years. Seasoned in noisy newsrooms at the end of the 20th century, and a great fan of cinema, he was above all a reader.

He was born in Zaragoza in 1952, entered El Norte de Castilla in Valladolid as an intern, to later work on the mythical Informaciones and as an advisor to the Spanish television program Tiempo de papel.

Newspapers such as DIARIO 16 and El MUNDO and magazines such as Turia and Mercurio also had his influence. He landed in Babelia in 1992, shortly after the founding of the cultural supplement to EL PAÍS. Here he worked as a critic of Spanish narrative until cancer forced him to abandon an activity that he combined with his work in the press department of the Fundación Juan March, where he had worked since 1985.
