Abraham Juárez, the writer from Almería has won the award, endowed with 10,000 euros, with his novel 'La faraona occulta,' set in the golden age of ancient Egypt.
She was the queen of Akhenaten, the heretical pharaoh, although she is perhaps best known for the bust that Egypt wants returned so much, one of the jewels of the Neues Museum in Berlin.
La faraona occulta” brings back the story of the intriguing Nefertiti from the sands of Egypt, just as the team led by German archaeologist Ludwig Borchardt discovered the famous statue buried in the house of the sculptor Tutmosis.
The novel that has won the fifth edition of the Edhasa Historical Narratives Prize, which not only recreates one of the most exciting periods of ancient Egypt, but also does so "with a remarkable degree of knowledge combined with an exceptional narrative style,” remarked the jury at the award ceremony yesterday.
