Interview with the author Ana Lena Rivera

The Asturian author Ana Lena Rivera has just published "Las herederas de la Singer", a novel that moves between the historical and constumbrista (realism) novel of the Spanish postwar period.

The work shows what life was like for the women of the miners, and of the miners themselves, after the end of the Civil War. Although it also goes further; nearly eighty years pass through the writer's pen.

The novel is a family saga, where four women give voice to all those who lived in the Asturian mining basin during the last century. The narrative has as a common theme those famous Singer sewing machines, of which there was one in each home. Family memories are very present in the plot of the book. The heartbreak, the betrayals, the dire straits living conditions and many other topics are those that Ana Lena Rivera unravels with a rich and heartfelt prose. In the interview, she gives us many clues to understand her new work.
