In 2020, the eBiblio platform registered a total of 3,746,853 loans throughout the country. It should be noted that the figures are exceptional, given that after the outbreak of COVID-19 and the declaration of the state of emergency, all public libraries were forced to temporarily close.

This made it impossible to loan physical copies, which implied an increase in online loans.:

To make this possible, the Ministry of Culture and Sports strengthened the eBiblio online lending platform for electronic books and consolidated an extraordinary purchase of licenses.
The autonomous communities that registered the highest number of loans during 2020 were the community of Madrid (1,115,102), Catalonia (947,438), Andalusia (296,802), Castilla y León (247,851) and the region of Murcia (192,661).
