Iberbibliotecas: the largest network of public libraries in Ibero-America

The Iberlibraries program was approved in 2000 during the X Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government.

Years later, in 2011, it was redefined at the XXI Ibero-American Summit held in Paraguay. This Ibero-American Cooperation program has been promoting the largest network of public libraries in Ibero-America for years.

The main objective of Iberbibliotecas is to promote free access to reading and information for all people without discrimination. To make this possible, they have implemented the Ibero-American network of cooperation in the field of public libraries that promotes collaboration and increase resources for the common benefit of all member countries and cities.

Since 2013, the Iberbibliotecas program has held an annual Call for Grants addressed to public, popular and community libraries in the member countries and cities. This call aims to consolidate these libraries as spaces with free access to information and reading, work for social inclusion and contribute to quality education and development in the industry.
