Publishnews interviews Juan Casamayor from the publishing house Páginas de Espuma

Juan Casamayor, editor of Páginas de Espuma, is a veteran full of energy who transmits a passion for publishing like few others.

Juan Casamayor, from Zaragoza, born in Madrid in 1968, is one of the publishers who continues to work with passion.  A specialist in the edition of short narrative in Spain and Latin America, he has never stopped taking care of all the details in each one of the books that he publishes. An example: when he launched the complete stories of Chekhov in 2013, he thought of his reader and decided to add a gift to the purchase of those heavy books, giving away a cloth bag so that all his buyers could comfortably take them home. He acknowledges working with meticulous care on the books, their design and paying close attention at the original editions to work on the translation. He admits to admiring other colleagues who founded publishing houses in the 90s, such as Minúscula, Lengua de Trapo and Kókinos, as well as a teacher like Jaume Vallcorba.

The most important question, Juan: how have you made possible a publishing house based only on stories?

“Look, I'm from Zaragoza, very tenacious, in other words, stubborn. I have always had the example of duty at home. My parents and grandparents are doctors - I am the only philologist in the family. I have always seen my mother studying. My father, a neurosurgeon, got up early to operate. …
