The Asociación Aragonesa de Escritores (Aragonese Association of Writers) is already preparing the Ramón y Cajal Year

Among the activities that have been organized for the coming months, we must highlight the commemoration of the Ramón y Cajal Year (Petilla de Aragón, Navarra, 1852 – Madrid,1934), winner of the Nobel Prize for Physiology and Medicine in 1906.

This humanist, as well as scientist, is closely linked to Aragón since he lived in Ayerbe and studied Medicine at the University of Zaragoza.

This year marks the 170th anniversary of his birth and the centenary of his retirement as a professor. The tribute paid by the AAE will begin on March 14th in a ceremony to be held in the Caja Rural de Aragón building in which the writers José Luis Corral and Luis Ferruz, both professors at the University of Zaragoza, will commemorate Ramón y Cajal in his most unknown facet: as a writer.

A recital of micro-stories by different AAE writers about Ramón y Cajal will be held on a date yet to be announced, which will take place in the Cultural Area of ??El Corte Inglés in Zaragoza within the already existing series Los escritores hablan (Writers speak).
