Dedicated to the defense of human rights, the founder of Fundamentos, decided to create his company with the aim of airing those currents of critical thought that the Franco regime persecuted.
The editor Juan Ignacio Serraller Ibáñez died on Sunday, January 16, 2022, in his Madrid home at the age of 78. Born in San Sebastián in 1943, he grew up in a family deeply rooted in the social and economic life of Euskadi: the Ajuria and Urigoitia. He studied at the Colegio del Pilar in Madrid and later at the Faculty of Political and Economic Sciences, branch of Economics.
There he joined the student movement that opposed Francoism and supported the workers' strikes in Asturias, for which he was expelled from the University and was unable to finish his studies. But he did follow courses at the Escuela Libre de Sociología with José Vidal, Alfonso Ortí and Tierno Galván as teachers, among others.
