The publishing house from within: an interview with the Orciny Press Publishing House

We spoke with Hugo Camacho, editor of Orciny Press, an independent micro-publisher specialized in fantasy genres, although it also publishes essays, and is recognized for being the one to introduce the genre / movement / community of the bizarre.

The editor of Orciny Press emphasizes the micro-publishing because, like many others we are contacting, he is alone and at the helm of his project. The editor is a freelancer with a project and external collaborators, a reality that is not usually visible in the industry. January 2022 marks the seventh anniversary of the publication of the first two titles.

Where did the idea of ??setting up the publishing house come from?

I needed to come up with something to do with my life because I had been unemployed for too long and came across the bizarre; specifically with two books that I thought needed to be translated into Spanish: Fantasma, by Laura Lee Bahr, and The House of Quick Sands by Carlton Mellick III. As I am an English philologist, I had already done translations and in a somewhat unconscious way, I jumped in.
