Until recently, new technologies have opened paths for all creative industries, including the book industry, that we never thought possible.

The world of children and young adult books has undoubtedly been exposed to these changes. And as a result, intriguing and aggressive projects and ideas have been born.

Some were discussed in depth at CONTEC Mexico 2021 which took place between November 15-17 in Mexico City. One month after the celebration of this event, and this year with the title Sharing Innovation: A New Generation of Children's Content, some of the experiences shared in it are still fully valid to rethink the future - the futures - of the book and reading regarding technology.

This is the case of "Teary Tiger toasts tomatoes", an app for children created by Flat White Byte and based on the award-winning book of the same name by illustrator and writer Nadia Budde. Verona Meier, a producer specializing in cinema and interactive media and one of the creators of the app, stated at the event «Developing children's books in applications» at CONTEC that what made her team - made up of audiovisual producers, animators and programmers - “When this project was launched it was precisely for the possibility of exploring what was barely explored: We were curious to do what we had never done before.  In the midst of that leap into the unknown,” she stated emphatically, "it was very important for us to respect the content of the book."
