The Madrid Libraries Guild creates an award in honor to Almudena Grandes

The Madrid Libraries Guild creates an award to honor Almudena Grandes. The association's sixth award will bear the name of the writer and will recognize the first novel by a new author, "who Almudena liked to support so much."

The Madrid Libraries Guild has created the Almudena Grandes Award to "keep the memory and legacy alive" of the Madrid writer, as a tribute to her long career as a writer and because of her recent death.  Starting in 2022, this award will distinguish the first novel by a new author, whom she always supported during her lifetime.

Adding to the shortage of Book of the Year Awards novels in the bookshops of Madrid, are copies of the works of Almudena Grandes. This generalized desire to read Almudena Grandes after her death will lead to an imminent reissue of all her works, says the secretary of the Madrid Book Fair and Libraries Guild, Pablo Bonet for Infolibre.
