The Spanish writer is recognized by the prestigious English independent charitable organization along with 11 other international authors.

The writer Javier Marías has been elected a member of the Royal Society of Literature (RSL), a charitable London institution that studies and promotes the literature of authors from around the world. Marías (Madrid, 70 years old), academic of the RAE since 2008 and columnist for El País Semanal, is the first Spaniard to be awarded this recognition, which was made public on Tuesday, November 30th, and that this time, also for the first time, it distinguishes 11 other international writers.

Marías’s writing career turned 50 in 2021. His works have been published in 46 languages and in 59 countries, as the Alfaguara publishing house has reported in a note. His first novel, “Los dominios del lobo,” was published in 1971.
