We received this great news from the Ministry of Culture yesterday.

The libraries of Villena distinguished along with 370 other municipalities throughout Spain in this year's edition of the María Moliner Contest. A contest whose objective is to reward, among the country's libraries situated in cities of less than 50,000 inhabitants, those that carry out a unique project that includes actions to encourage reading, efficiency and library work, social integration in their community, as well as using new technologies.

In 2007, our library received the Special Prize for the Read Before Birth project, endowed at the time with 12,000 Euros, and has subsequently been awarded cases of books on other occasions. This year, the prize they have awarded us is 2,000 Euros in cash, from which our readers will benefit with the acquisition of lots of books.
