Earlier this October, translator Jennifer Croft and writer Mark Haddon launched the #TranslatorsOnTheCover campaign to convince publishers of the need to include the translator's name on the book cover.
It is thanks to translators that we have access to literature from around the world, past and present. Thanks to translators, we are not mere isolated islands of readers and writers who speak to each other, listening only to themselves.
Although the Spanish Intellectual Property Law makes it very clear that the name of the author (in our case) must appear in a prominent place, the truth is that it is far from being something customary.
