The Spanish publishing sector faces the Frankfurt trade show as a guest in 2022, with the challenge of a 30% increase in its raw material, the shortage of cardboard for covers, and the growing weight of Amazon.
The Frankfurt Book Fair that opened yesterday should have had Spain as a guest of honor to commemorate the 30 years of its presence, since 1981. But due to the Corona virus pandemic, the event has been pushed back until next year, something that will not take away the success that the Spanish book industry has been enjoying. Sales have increased between 17% and 23% compared to 2019, to exceed a turnover that has not been experienced for a decade.
Since yesterday, when the most important event in the book world started in the German city, until Sunday, some seventy Spanish authors will already participate, moving forward towards next year’s program which promises to be overflowing with creativity.
