The essayist and poet has obtained the award with ‘Filosofía y Consuelo de la música” (Editorial Acantilado).

The essayist, poet, and aphorist, Ramón Andrés (Pamplona, 66 years old) has won the 2021 National Essay Prize with “Filosofía y Consuelo de la música.” The jury has awarded this work for its ability “to unite music and poetry in dialogue with Antiquity and for attracting readers of different labels. It is a study that shows that hearing and intellect are inseparable and shows the sacred relationship between philosophy and music.

It is an encyclopedic work written with ease that underlines the humanistic repercurssion of music from the pre-Socrates era to the Age of Enlightenment.” The prize, awarded by the Ministry of Culture and Sports, is endowed with 20,000 Euros and celebrates on this occasion a work that qualifies as a “monumental book dedicated to music.”
