At the opening of the LIBER Fair, on October 12, the book industry proposed a great social pact to solidify the growth of reading in Spain.
The LIBER International Book Fair, promoted by the Federation of Publishers Guilds of Spain, took place this year in Madrid. It is the first professional fair of the industry after the pandemic, a prelude to the Frankfurt Trade Show, smaller than usual this year for social and health reasons.
Organized by IFEMA, the show concluded last Friday after three intense days in which different personalities from the Spanish publishing sector passed through the pavilion, which considering the present situation, there was a significant presence of buyers and institutions from Latin America.
During the opening ceremony on October 12, Patrici Tixis, President of the Federation of Publishers Guilds in Spain (FGEE), encouraged the country's leaders and political groups to work together with the book industry, to achieve "a great Social Pact for reading, to last beyond the duration of the legislatures."
