This award is not usually given to a novel not written in Castilian Spanish and even less one that has been published by less mainstream publishers such as Galician Galaxia and Aragonese Xordica.
Or perhaps in 2021, this award, which is given by the Ministry of Culture, will no longer be such a surprise.
The brushstrokes of his biography that can be found online indicate that the author is a cultural journalist for La Voz de Galicia and that he has published four Galician novels, as well as several translations and a couple of children's books. There is little else about Xesús Fraga, born in London in 1971, but quickly settled in A Coruña and Betanzos.
The novel, “Virtudes (e misterios)” (Galaxia Publishing House), is the story of two generations of brave women and Galician emigration to England and America."
