Historian Isabel Burdiel has won the Real Academia Española de investigación filológica (Royal Spanish Academy for philological research) for her work 'Emilia Pardo Bazán' (Taurus, 2019).
The award has an economic endowment of 20,000 Euros and is presented together with a commemorative medal.
The jury of the award has highlighted that "it is a rigorous biographical study, with a wide critical apparatus, analyzing the life and literary trajectory of the author, placing it in the historical context of her time." Her candidacy was presented by academics José Antonio Pascual, Salvador Gutiérrez Ordóñez and Paz Battaner.
