Interview with Fernando Marías: “The time of La Movida was the emergence of our dreams. There was an infinite solidarity."

“Arde este libro,” in my opinion, is Fernando Marías’ most personal book to date. In it, he narrates part of his own biography and does so in the first person and with all the sincerity of his memories, which are deep in his soul.

It is a journey from his years of training when he found a love that was almost destructive, but nevertheless worth experiencing. In this book he travels through the Madrid of the counterculture movement of la Movida with all the experiences lived. The book can be painful to read, but I suspect that for Fernando it was not, rather it served as a healing process.

The publishing house Alrevés is dedicated to the crime novel, “Arde este libro” is a little out of its usual parameters, although the work has a lot of darkness. “The publisher has the intention of ??expanding their genres a bit. I have already collaborated with them on several projects such as the HNegra Collection and a book about Frankenstein, where this myth is revisited. I am very happy with the publisher that has handled my book with great love. They have a team who are very involved with my new work,” says the writer from Bilbao in a well-known tavern in Plaza Tirso de Molina, near his home and the setting for part of the novel.
