Interview with writer Benito Taibo Mahojo: “I am used to letting my instincts and whims guide me.”

Benito Taibo Mahojo, was born on May 31, 1960, in Mexico City. He studied History at the School of Philosophy and Letters of the Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM).

His family environment is part of the world of letters, journalism, and cinema. He is the son of Maricarmen Mahojo de Taibo and Paco Ignacio Taibo, who was a writer, historian, playwright, and journalist.

His brothers are Paco Ignacio Taibo ll, who is also a writer and journalist, and the filmmaker Carlos Taibo Mahojo. His relatives and even some publishers, describe him as a passionate, funny, simple, irreverent, and dedicated person, which is how his biography in Wikipedia also describes him. As expressed by Taibo, he inherited his love for journalism from his father since the age of 16; the age when he also started writing poetry.
