Madrid, 09/20/2021. The authors Carme Riera, Javier Sierra and Nuria Barrios and the intellectual property expert, Javier Díaz de Olarte, participated, on September 17, in the round table “Robot writers? Creating in times of algorithms,” which our organization coordinated at Hay Festival Segovia. Daniel Fernández, president of CEDRO, moderated the session.
At the round table, all the speakers agreed on the feasibility of artificial intelligence producing novels in the future. However, they consider that they will not be able to replace the creativity of the writers. The editor and president of our organization, Daniel Fernández, reminded us that "we are already reading texts written by machines", derived from the so-called artificial intelligence; that is, machines that generate content from already existing ones.
The academic and writer Carme Riera pointed out that "there may be writing robots, but that the result of their work will be different" than that carried out by humans. And she added that these machines "rewrite what is written."
