Founded in 1973, the Association of Illustrators (AOI) has become the UK's professional body for illustrators and gathers over 2,700 members.
Since 2002, the entity has held the World Illustration Awards (WIA) annually, which recognizes the work of illustrators from around the world in various categories, such as book covers, books, children's publications, and trade publications.
The idea of ??the awards, according to Ren Renwick, CEO of the AOI, is to provide a platform "to discover exciting new illustrators."
This week, the jury has announced the finalists of the 2021 edition of the world illustration awards. There are four Spanish illustrators competing in three different categories of the award: Natalia Zaratiegui, in the trade publication category with the work “Relatos para amantes de los libros” (Alma editorial, 2021); Cinta Arribas, in the book cover category for “I Hate Everyone” (Pow! Kids Books, 2018); Tania García for “Uno, un million” (Mosquito Books, 2021) and Virginia Lorente for Immigrant Architect (Tilbury House Publishers, 2020) in the category of children's publications.
