Long lines mark the new normal for the Madrid Book Fair

The first weekend of the event in the Retiro park closes with a warm response from the public which exceeds all expectations and causes waiting to enter the venue.

Although it is three months after the usual date, there are fewer booths, the space is reduced to almost a third of its usual size and the capacity is reduced, under the motto #laferiadelreencuentro, the organizers of the Madrid Book Fair have opted to overcome the limitations set by health measures and return to the face-to-face format.

So last Friday, 26 months after the booths were dismantled for the last time, the big event of the book began again in the Retiro park and the reunion has turned out to be, on this first weekend, as massive and hot as In the past, but with the exasperating novelty of the endless queues to access the venue, and everyone always wearing a mask.

No goings in and outs on the sides, or taking a break in the grass that flanks the driveway where the booths are mounted. This year, visitors can only access by two points, at the north and south ends, and must take turns so that the capacity of 3,900 persons is not exceeded.
