Last week, Penguin Random House announced their collaboration with Amanda Gorman. She is the 23-year-old American poet who became known around the world for reciting a poem at the inauguration of US President Joe Biden.  This opened an interesting debate here in Spain about who should translate each author, after vetoing the poet Víctor Obiols for his translation into Catalan, requesting that his translations be carried out by women, preferably black or social activists.

Together, Gorman and Penguin Random House will promote the Amanda Gorman Poetry Award, a new creative writing award focused on the genre of poetry for high school students.
