Viví Escrivá wins the National Illustration Award 2021

Victoria (Viví) Escrivá Palacios (Valencia, 1939) has been awarded the National Illustration Prize 2021 for, as stated by the jury, ..

“her long career of great graphic quality, which began in the 70s, being one of the illustrators who helmed the course of the illustrated album in Spain at a time when this sector was beginning to awaken, especially in the children's books category.” They also highlight that "she dedicated her energy and experience to fighting for the rights of illustration professionals through associations," and that "she has influenced generations of readers, being an indisputable reference and doing a great job for the promotion of reading ".

The Ministry of Culture and Sports grants this award to recognize all the work carried out by an illustrator, or a Spanish illustrator in the field of books and letters in any of the Spanish languages. Its financial endowment is 20,000 euros.
