The program is promoted by Acción Cultural Española. The AC/E Program to Promote the Translation and Illustration of Literary Works was created in 2019 on the occasion of Spain's participation as guest of honor at the Frankfurt International Book Fair, in order to promote the translation of literary works in Spanish by foreign publishers.

The application submission period will be open from June 9th to December 31st, 2021, and counts with a budget of 450,000 euros.

After the postponement of Spain's participation in the Frankfurt International Book Fair to 2022, and the success of the first two calls with a large volume of applications, Acción Cultural Española has considered it necessary to continue this line of work and include some improvements and novelties.
