Ramón Andrés is distinguished in the poetry category for "Los árboles que nos quedan."
The Critics Award, promoted by the Spanish Association of Literary Critics, this year has honored the academic and writer Arturo Pérez-Reverte (Cartagena, 69 years old) for “Línea de fuego” (Alfaguara), his novel about the tragic battle of the Ebro. The award also has a lyrical category, which has been won by Ramón Andrés (Pamplona, ??66 years old) for his collection of poems “Los árboles que nos quedan” (Hiperión). Albert Pijuan (Tsunami) and Josep María Escrivá (Semper és tard) have also been awarded in the category of Catalan language; Inma López Silva (O libro da filla) and Ana Romaní (A desvertebra) in Galician, and Pello Lizarralde (Argiantza) and Jon Gerediaga (Natura Berriak) in Basque.
In his own way Pérez-Reverte is happy with the recognition. "When you have been around for so many years, an award, any award, is not very important," he told us in his usual hard, skeptical and loyal way. “But I am aware that friends of mine had been fighting for years to get it. My thanks to them, and I accept it on their behalf.”
