An Amazon survey reveals that 72% of Spaniards believe that both styles can coexist without conflict in the publishing industry.
In Spain, neither the printed book has expired nor the electronic book can be established as the winner in such a complex market. Although the question about the end of print due to the emergence of electronic reading will always remain there, for now the data shows a very well balanced market with a high percentage of hybrid readers that appreciate both models and offers. Those are, at least, some of the conclusions that a survey produced by the market research company IPSOS, together with an interested party, Amazon Kindle, on the relationship with the present and the future of reading and writing in Spain.
The study indicates that 90% of the surveyed Spaniards read at least one book during the last year and that this percentage could be related to the fact that 45% of the respondents claim to have read more books than usual in 2020 because of the confinement brought about by the coronavirus pandemic.
