Andalusian literature has lost one of its giants

José Manuel Caballero Bonald, a poet who looked at life through his verses, dies.

"It is a sad day in which we say goodbye to José Manuel Caballero Bonald: Cervantes Award 2012, National Poetry Award 2006 for 'Manual de infractores', National Award for Spanish Literature 2005.” With these words the Ministry of Culture and Sports has expressed their regret via their Twitter account, in which the poet was described as "one of the great writers of our time."

On their part, the University of Cádiz (UCA) has declared in a press release: "He was, without a doubt, one of the most recognized and awarded authors, an indisputable figure in the entire world of Spanish literature of the last mid century. A committed writer of international prestige, lover of the culture of his land, recognized for the quality of his prose and his lyrics," adds the note.
