In 2020 some 130,000 students studied the Spanish language and culture in educational systems around the world, thanks to the programs that promote the teaching of Spanish sponsored by the Foreign Educational Action (AEE) of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training.
This is reflected in the report ‘The world studies Spanish 2020’, a publication that collects in detail the perspective of the Spanish language in the educational systems of 33 countries.
“Educational action abroad has a dual purpose: first, to guarantee the international dimension of education, placing Spanish as a foreign language in a relevant place in educational centers in many countries. Second, to contribute to the representation of Spanish abroad as part of a soft diplomacy through education or culture that tends to bring people closer together,” explained the Secretary of State for Education, Alejandro Tiana, during the presentation of the study.
