Mariana Enríquez from Argentina and Benjamin Labatut from Chile are the authors of the works translated from Spanish.
On April 22, the six finalists for the International Booker Prize were announced. Among them are ‘Los peligros de fumar en la cama’ (The Dangers of Smoking in Bed) by Mariana Enríquez (Emecé, 2009; Anagrama, 2017), translated by Megan McDowell and ‘Un verdor terrible’ (A Terrible Greenness) (Anagrama 2020) by the Chilean writer, born in Roterdam, Benjamin Labatut and translated by Adrian Nathan West.
