García Lorca's legacy is already Cultural Interest Heritage

The collection, made up of more than 4,000 works, including books, manuscripts, drawings and photographs, is essential to reconstructing the life and artistic journey of the poet.

The Governing Council has agreed to inscribe the poet’s name in the General Catalog of the Andalusian Historical Heritage as an Asset of Cultural Interest (BIC), in the furniture category.  The legacy of Federico García Lorca, is protected in Granada by the foundation that bears the poet's name. The inscription, which will be published in the Official Gazette of the Junta de Andalucía (BOJA), guarantees the integrity of the collection and its link with the Andalusian Autonomous Community.

The legacy that is now protected is exceptional both for its uniqueness and integrity and for its historical and literary significance.  It is made up of more than 4,000 pieces, including books, manuscripts, letters, music scores, costumes, photographs and drawings. All the goods have a significant meaning to the culture of Andalusia because they represent the material and abstract testimony of an artist who has become a symbol of the universal culture of the 20th century.
