The sale of E-books in Spanish skyrocketed in 2020.

According to Libranda's 2020 Digital Book Annual Report, the Spanish-language electronic book market reached 115.7 million Euros in 2020.

The sale of books in digital format in the Spanish language increased exceptionally in 2020 after eleven consecutive years of promotions. This is data obtained from the 2020 Digital Book Annual Report presented by Libranda, a publisher of digital content in the Spanish language worldwide. Compared to 2019 data, this increase was 37% worldwide and 43% in Spain. "This is an extraordinary increase, the most important in recent times," says Arantza Larrauri, Libranda's CEO.

The digital share in Spain reached 7.3% in 2020.  However, the report indicates that when it comes to famous titles this figure ranges between 15 and 25%, even some titles are read in digital format 40% of the time. The Spanish-language electronic book market worldwide (excluding textbooks and academic books) reached 115.7 million Euros in 2020: 75 million in Spain, which represents a 65% value in Euros and 40.7 million in the rest of the countries.  Mexico leads (11.2% in Euros), followed by the United States (9%). It should be noted that Uruguay, Ecuador, Guatemala and Peru have reported a growth even higher than that of Spain.
