Intrigue and children's books are a fruitful pairing, both in success and in titles. On the occasion of Children's Book Day we mention some of the most recent titles
In these times in which children navigate between screens and social networks, mystery in children's literature achieves the imposible: hooking the reader. The frenetic pace and scheeming generated by the plots, make this genre one of the favorite choices in children and young adults. "The stories always invite the reader to play a game: you have to be alert, take nothing for granted, let yourself be surprised, develop theories ... There is a complicity between the reader and the author, based on the challenge which is very satisfactory for both", points out Mar Peris, Editorial Director of children and young adult literatura at RBA.
The hook of that genre continues later in adulthood, but where does it begin? Well, at an early age, according to Berta Márquez, SM coordinator of children and young adult literature: «Already in nursery books like 'Cucú-Tras' there are hidden elements, or in the 'search and find' ones, in which there is also an element of mystery. It has always worked because it appeals to curiosity, and curiosity is something very human.
