Several cultural agencies have reported that Mexican comic book writer and scriptwriter Francisco Haghenbeck has died at the age of 56 due to complications derived from Covid-19.
"We regret the death of the Mexican comic book writer and scriptwriter Francisco Gerardo Haghenbeck. Winner of the Nocte 2013 Award for the best foreign book with his work 'El diablo me obligaó' (2011), (The Devil Made Me Do It)” declared the Secretary of Culture of Mexico City in a message on Twitter.
On their part, the Department of Cultural Promotion of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, stated that "the graphic novel and the Mexican comic would not be the same without the work of Francisco Haghenbeck. We regret the death of this essential writer and screenwriter. Our condolences to his family and friends."
