The call for entries for the XVII Premio Iberoamericano SM (Ibero-American Award) for Children and Young Adult Literature 2021 is now open.

The SM Ibero-American Prize for Children and Young Adult Literature was launched in 2005, the Ibero-American Year of Reading, with the purpose of promoting children and young adult literature in Latin America.

Application entries will be available until May 21, 2021.

The main objective is to recognize those authors of great prestige who have developed their literary career in the field of books for children and young adults.

The award is organized by the SM Foundation in conjunction with four international cultural institutions that make up the Award Association: El Centro Regional para el Fomento del Libro en América Latina y el Caribe (CERLALC) (Regional Center for the Promotion of Books in Latin America and the Caribbean); Organización de Estados Iberoamericanos para la Educación, la Ciencia, y la Cultura (EOI) (Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science, and Culture); the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY); and the Office of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization in Mexico (UN); with the support of the Guadalajara International Book Fair.
