For the second consecutive year, two women win the traditional literary prizes of the Destino Publishing House.
The Nadal Prize, the oldest award in Spanish literature, was awarded, as is tradition, on the night of January 6. Due to health circumstances in this 77th edition, the Nadal ceremony was held without the traditional gala dinner at the Hotel Palace in Barcelona. The awards were given at a press conference in the presence of the media and the jury which was made up of: Alicia Giménez Bartlett, Care Santos, Lorenzo Silva, Andrés Trapiello and Emili Rosales.
The Catalan writer, of Moroccan origin, Najat El Hamchi, has won from among 1,044 manuscripts submitted with her work, “They Will Love Us on Monday.” Another woman, veteran writer María Barbal, has received the Josep Pla Award for narrative in the Catalan language for “Tándem.”
