Social media during the pandemic.

In her article, Maju Alves highlighted certain changes in user behavior in social media, which can help publishers and bookstores to use digital marketing in order to get closer to the public.

Recently, Twitter shared a study in the behavior of its users during the COVID-19 Pandemic.  One of the insights available, points to the increase in reading among the participants of the study: 41% stated that they were reading more during the pandemic as a result of on-line activities.  All media sites point to an increase in the demand of activities to do at home and a routine during this time of social distancing.

Another thing that increased during this time was the participation on social media.  Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp registered an increase in visits of 40%.  TikTok reached one billion downloads and YouTube published a survey among Brazilians in whcih 30% claimed to be watching more videos.  “Taking this into consideration I determined certain changes in social media and in user beahavior which can be useful during this period,” stated Alves.
