Writers, editors, journalists and intellectuals gathered last week (September 17-20) at the Formentor Hotel where the 10th edition of the Formentor Prize for Letters took place as well as the Literary Conversations, which due to the present situation, was broadcasted via Internet.
This year it was awarded to Cees Nooteboom from Holland.
Cees Nooteboom is a novelist, poet ad translator, but most of all he is the author of a new narrative of travels. As stated by the jury of the Formentor Prize, “Cees Nooteboom is a travel writer who has made nomadism a philosophical, esthetic and spiritual attitude which transcends barriers and reveals the expansive nature of human horizons.”
"We have to keep the fire of culture alive", said the director of the Formentor Foundation, Basilio Baltasar, at the start of the celebration of the traditional literary event. "The invited writers will participate in Formentor, read their papers and hold this virtual conversation as an act of resistance and cultural affirmation," he said.
Through the website of the Formentor Foundation, the public was be able to follow live the participation of the authors who joined in the meetings.
