Mónica Rodríguez has won the latest edition of the Cervantes Chico Award, a prestigious award given by the municipality of Alcalá de Henares to distinguish a Castilian language writer whose creative career has excelled in the field of young adult and children's literature. In addition to their literary merits, for the award's designation they take into account criteria such as the popularity and use of the writer’s work as an educational and didactic resource. A public recognition is awarded to the winning author, through which is sought the diffusion and promotion of the work among young adults and children. Coinciding with the delivery of this award is the similar recognition of school children, families and teachers of all educational centers in the city which stand out for their human values.
