Her friends are Latin American and she is the only Spaniard. Her days in New York are spent trying to live a decent life while attempting to finish her book. With just her scholarship to her name, Sara goes from being an office worker in Madrid to form part of the Hispanic cultural elite that is establishing itself in New York. She will discover that, just like the religion that her father professes, literature is a doctrine based on a series of institutions, a system of prestige, and above all, a dogma of faith.
