Lope is also one of Spain's greatest lyrical poets, and wrote in all the forms of verse known in his day. With an extraordinary command of language and lyrical facility, he treated a universal array of themes, classical and contemporary, sacred and profane. Although at odds with Góngora, he did make some concessions to the prevaling vogue of Conceptismo.
