Jaime Gil de Biedma is one the most influential poetic voices of the so-called Generation of 1950, also known as the Barcelona School. Gil de Biedma's poetry is autobiographical, notably realist in nature, and occasionally delves into social criticism. Posthumous collections, Persons of the Verb (Las personas del verbo) and To Return (Volver) are the beginning, and the best example, of the mode known as Poetry of Experience. Poetry of Experience and Poetry of Knowledge are the two fundamental currents of Spanish poetry at the end of the 20th century.
