Conceived as a philosophical novel, La Ben Plantada, published as a set of marginal notes in 1911, is the magnum opus of the most incisive and important Catalan intellectual of all time. In this work, Xenius, known to the Spanish reader for some of his famous marginal notes, describes the ideal of "Noucentisme" and his particular of vision of Catalonia personified in Teresa, a woman of semi-divine aspect and Greek-Mediterranean aesthetic, who incarnates the concepts of prudence, virtue and seductive and asexual discretion advocated by its author. A masterpiece which, unfortunately, has not been sufficiently appreciated, especially in Catalonia.
